What years of multi-entity finance operations taught me

The operating experience behind Chez Solutions and the lessons it created about close discipline, reconciliations, controls, and finance infrastructure.

Before establishing Chez Solutions, I worked as Finance Manager in a multi-entity operating group spanning honey processing and export, aquaculture, manufacturing, agriculture, and climate-related businesses.

The environment involved multiple currencies, intercompany activity, inventory and production accounting, statutory compliance, and an ERP implementation across several operating entities.

When I joined, month-end work was not running through a consistent, fully documented close structure. I helped build the processes, schedules, reconciliations, and ownership needed to move towards a disciplined T+5 close cadence.

The work included bank, receivables, payables and intercompany reconciliations; fixed-asset register and general-ledger alignment; inventory and manufacturing accounting; biological-asset valuation under IAS 41; multi-currency reporting; VAT and EFD review; audit coordination; and documented month-end procedures.

The most important lesson was that finance problems rarely begin with the final report. They begin earlier: incomplete source documentation, unclear ownership, ERP configuration gaps, unreconciled control accounts, and processes that depend too heavily on individual memory.

That operating experience now informs how I approach finance diagnostics. I know what weak close infrastructure looks like — and I understand the practical work required to rebuild it into a repeatable, controlled process.

Does the close process support the reports?

Chez Solutions provides finance diagnostics, close improvement, reconciliation support, and finance-process design.
